Welcome FEBRUARY
We are pleased to once again offer scholarships to members' relatives. For your relative to be eligible you must be a member of the Retired Firefighters Association of Denver. Due to the generosity of our members, we are able to increase the award for each scholarship to $2500. You can download the application package by clicking on this link. It is also accessible under the Member Resources tab. Make sure the applicant follows the requirements provided or the application may be rejected. We look forward to another year of impressive applications and wish all the applicants good luck. Please be aware that we will be awarding at least one trade school scholarship, so make sure you get the word out to family members.
PausedMembership Application If you are a retired Denver firefighter you can join our association by downloading this application form and sending it to the Association secretary. If you are a DROP member you can now join as well by using this application and mailing it to the address on the form.
University of North Carolina Research Study Retired Firefighters Health and Wellness Research Project
Firefighters provide critical services to our communities. However, due to the dangerous and strenuous nature of their jobs, they experience one of the highest rates of occupational injuries that have the potential to significantly affect their quality of life during retirement. We believe that studying the health status of retired firefighters can be a valuable and untapped resource to help identify improvements in workplace health and safety for current firefighters.
This website is created for and inspired by firefighters to briefly discuss our retired firefighter project. The overall objective of this project is to examine the overall health of retired career firefighters to 1) help identify the current needs of retirees, and 2) inform strategies to improve the health and safety of current active firefighters.
This is a collaborative project between researchers at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Utah State University. Funding for this project was provided by the North Carolina Occupational Safety and Health Education and Research Center through the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) (#T42OH008673). This project was approved by the UNC Institutional Review Board (# 19-3337).

SCHOLARSHIP We are now accepting applications for this years' scholarships. If you are a member of the Retired Firefighters Association and your child, grandchild, or dependent is planning to continue their post-secondary education you don't want to miss out on this opportunity. We are offering at least 4 scholarships; with an additional trade school scholarship if we get trade school applicants. Make sure both the application and instruction sheet are provided to the student. Lastly, make sure the applicant knows that incomplete applications may result in rejection of the application. Good luck to all.
